This is when we meet back at the studio to look through your portraits. You will be able to select the package of your choice and together we will design your custom wall art, album or extra prints.
This varies depending on the session, but you can expect your final gallery to include at least 20 gorgeous portraits.
No, you will be able to choose your package and any additional wall art, albums or prints once you see your portraits at your viewing and ordering appointment.

maternity photography in edinburgh - frequently asked questions

I recommend booking your pregnancy photography session in Edinburgh as soon as possible after your 20 week scan, this way we can schedule a suitable date based on your due date.
Ideally we would like to photograph you when your bump  is already clearly visible but before it gets too tiring for you to move around. Depending on the size of your bump anywhere between 30-42 weeks, ideally around weeks 32-34.
I offer both outdoor and studio maternity photography sessions in Edinburgh and Midlothian, it really just depends on the look you are after. Let’s talk and figure out what will work best for you.
Expect your maternity session in Edinburgh to last around 1,5h. This will ensure we have enough time to make you comfortable, include outfit changes if desired and allow time for you to rest in between the posing.
During your consultation we will discuss your hopes and expectations, we will talk how you want to capture your pregnancy and how you wish to display your portraits. This will determine whether we will go for a more comfortable look outdoors, or a more styled studio session. I have a selection of dresses you are welcome to wear – we will look at these and create the session plan together in advance so that you feel ready and comfortable with nothing to stress about on the day.
Not only can – I would highly recommend to. Your partner and children are all part of your baby’s story and this is exactly what I strive to capture with my work, so yes – let’s absolutely include them.
You don’t have to, but it might help you feel amazing, so why not pamper yourself!
This is entirely up to you. I believe that every pregnant body is absolutely gorgeous and deserves to be celebrated, shown off and captured, however these portraits are for you and so we will only do what you feel comfortable with, whether this means completely nude portraits, or no skin on show at all. I will make sure to make you feel as comfortable as possible and protect your privacy and dignity at all times.
I can. If you want me to. I generally edit out spots/scratches/blemishes that are temporary. You are gorgeous and I would love for you to feel empowered to wear your tigress stripes with pride, however these portraits are for YOU, and it is important that you love them, so if editing something out will help with that, I’ll do it.
I offer three basic packages for maternity photography sessions in Edinburgh and Midlothian, with prices starting at £299. A session fee of £59 is payable at the time of booking and includes your consultation, photoshoot, image preparation and your viewing appointment, see more details here. Visit my product page for more information about decorating your home with stunning wall art pieces.

Newborn photography edinburgh - frequently asked questions

Newborn sessions are the most popular and available slots tend to get booked up well in advance, that is why ideally we will schedule your newborn session while you are still pregnant. I will then keep availability for you for weeks surrounding your estimated due date. Include me in your ‘baby’s here!’ texts and we will then set a date and time for your session depending on your recovery.
Any time within the first month is ideal, although I won’t ask you to try and scramble out of the house with a new baby on day 3! Unlike other photographers I don’t put an age limit on newborn photographs – whenever we do it, your baby will be at their tiniest and most adorable. Keep in mind that babies over 2 weeks old become more alert and stay awake longer, which simply means they might need more snuggles and milk during your photoshoot to achieve those sleepy portraits. Most newborns can be successfully photographed up to around 6-8 weeks.
Please do get in touch if your baby is older too! Each stage of your little ones new life is so beautiful and unique and as long as I have space in my diary, I will not turn you away and will happily book you in for a last minute newborn photography session in Edinburgh.
Don’t panic and contact me as soon as you can. Even though most session slots get booked up way in advance, with the unpredictability of due dates I might be able to fit you in around existing appointments. Older babies are as precious and although likely less sleepy, we will still be able to create gorgeous timeless portraits for you.
Yes and no. I aim to create timeless and clean portraits that will look wonderful as your chosen pieces of wall art for years to come, which is why you won’t find colourful outfits, character hats and bulky props in my studio. Soft, pastel colours and subtle accessories is all we will use and yes, I will have everything ready. If you have something special in mind, let me know and we will make a plan to incorporate it.
Expect your newborn photography session to last anywhere between 2-4 hours. The session is completely baby led and I will not have anything else scheduled following your newborn session so that we are able to take all the time needed to ensure your baby is comfortable and happy throughout.
Absolutely yes! Once you arrive for your session I will make sure your other child(ren) feel comfortable and relaxed, we might play a little or they can help me set up for the portraits. We will start your newborn photography session with family and sibling portraits first, so that one of the parents or a relative/friend can take the older child(ren) out for an adventure while we finish the session with newborn portraits. This is to ensure that the child(ren) enjoy the experience as much as you do and sitting in a very warm room watching their sibling being photographed is hardly any child’s idea of fun!
Absolutely yes! I strongly believe that you must have a family portrait. I understand the hesitations you might have – making yourself look and feel great just days after giving birth might not sound too appealing. The only thing I am sure about – you will not regret taking this family portrait. Your child(ren) will be so grateful that you did. You are the most important people in your baby’s life, let them see how much they mean to you. You don’t even need to pose! Simply snuggle, kiss and cuddle your little one and I will take care of the rest.
Mums: Wear a top that you feel comfortable in. The portraits are about you and your relationship with your baby so try and keep the colour of your clothes neutral and preferably light, avoid bright patterns and colours, something with short or ¾ sleeves is perfect. Your hands will be visible in most images, so chose a neutral colour if you will apply nail polish. Bring your makeup bag and hairbrush with you. For the bottom part wear what makes you feel comfortable – leggings are totally fine, or go ahead and put on a pair of jeans. Choose neutral socks or bare feet.
Dads: Wear nice jeans or chinos and a light, neutral coloured tshirt or a polo shirt. A smart shirt with sleeves rolled up will work as well, just avoid bright colours and patterns. Trim your nails if you can as your hands will appear in most portraits. Choose neutral socks or bare feet.
Siblings: Plain trousers or jeans and a neutral coloured tshirt or a polo shirt is perfect. If choosing a dress, make sure it looks good and doesn’t scrunch up in various positions – sitting, kneeling, lying on the tummy and while being picked up by a parent. Ideally no shoes and today is a good day to leave those character socks at home! Bare foot is ideal but we know how protective children can be of their socks so best choose simple black or white. Tip – wear a zip up hoodie to protect from spills on the way and if those special socks need to happen just make them even more special and hide them under a plain pair.
Baby: I will wrap your beautiful baby nice and snug for your portraits, so have them wear something that comes off easy and does not need to go over their head. A button up sleep suit is perfect and use a blanket to keep them warm on the way.
Bring your baby’s changing bag, a dummy if they take it and plenty of milk if not breastfeeding. You can bring a change of clothes in case baby makes a mark on you (likely if photographed naked for family portraits). Feel free to bring something sentimental if you would like it included in your portraits (their first teddy, a handmade shawl, etc.).  I will offer you a hot drink, light snacks and some water/juice, feel free to bring  lunch. Bring your phone/tablet and you can browse the internet, catch up on the messages or just chill and watch your favourite series.
I offer three basic packages for newborn photography sessions, with prices starting at £299. A session fee of £59 is payable at the time of booking and it does not include any images, see more details here. Sitter baby photography edinburgh - frequently asked questions

As always, it is best to book your session in advance to ensure availability, so we can book your session as early as following your newborn session. Most babies sit confidently by the time they are 7 months old,  we will schedule your session around then. If in the lead up you can see that your baby needs a little more time, that is absolutely fine and we can move your session to later. If you missed out on newborn portraits and you don’t want to wait until they are sitting, get in touch as soon as you can and I will do my best to squeeze you in asap.
The sitter session is fast paced and generally lasts anywhere between 30min-1h depending if your baby needs breaks/cuddles/snacks etc. Babies under 1 year old tend to get tired and overwhelmed quite quickly, this is why we will schedule your session around baby’s nap times to ensure they are happy, rested and ready to have fun.
Absolutely yes!  I strongly believe that you must have a family portrait that is why we will start the session with everybody in the picture, but most of the session focus will be on your baby. I understand the hesitations you might have – making yourself look and feel great when life is so busy with the little one(s) might not sound too appealing. The only thing I am sure about – you will not regret taking this family portrait. Your child(ren) will be so grateful that you did. You are the most important people in your baby’s life, let them see how much they mean to you.

Bring your baby’s changing bag, a dummy if they take it, milk, water and snacks. Feel free to bring something sentimental if you would like it included in your portraits (their first teddy, a handmade shawl, etc.).
I recommend one or two outfits for the sitter photography sessions – one smart and another casual one, have your baby wear the first one as you arrive and bring the second one with you. A good idea is to put a zip up hoodie over their outfit to avoid it getting soiled on the way. Bring a simple white vest and a nappy cover for those truly classic and pure baby portraits we can achieve in between changing the outfits.
Bring your baby’s changing bag, milk and a non messy snack (if already eating solids) and a drink for your baby and anything special you would like included in their portraits (their first teddy, shawl from their newborn session, etc.). I will have water, juice and light snacks for you.

Cake Smash photography edinburgh - frequently asked questions

To ensure availability the cake smash photoshoot in Edinburgh is best booked 2-4 months in advance. If you would like to have your portraits ready for your little one’s birthday, schedule your session at least a month before they turn 1, to allow time for the photoshoot, image preparation, viewing and ordering appointment and product delivery. If however you would prefer to capture your little one as close to them turning one as possible, schedule your session just before or after their actual birthday.
Yes, I include a custom made yummy cake for every session. And yes, you can take any leftovers home with you! Allergy friendly cakes can also be arranged or if you aren’t keen on a cake but love the idea of a milestone first birthday session, let’s talk about paint splash or fruit smash instead.
Please get in touch to discuss this individually, generally we can work it out and having allergies or intolerances should not stop your child from the cake smash photoshoot fun. We will work together to address this.
As with all photography sessions my aim is to create classic, timeless portraits for you to cherish forever. For this reason I recommend minimal decorations and props – I will provide bunting and balloons to create the festive feel and a beautiful bath tub for those splashy portraits afterwards.
Yes of course! I provide simple balloons, bunting and a matching cake, let’s talk about what you have in mind and together we will make it amazing.
Yes of course! We can absolutely do their sessions together, although a small fee may apply if you would like two individual cakes. Please get in touch and we can discuss all the details.
Expect your session to last anywhere between 1-2 hours. This will allow plenty of time for breaks if needed, but we will work quickly and efficiently. Babies under 1 year old tend to get tired and overwhelmed quite quickly, this is why we will schedule your session around baby’s nap times to ensure they are happy, rested and ready to have fun.
Yes, absolutely! Turning one is not only a huge milestone for a baby, but for you as a parent too. Although the focus of the session is your little one, we will definitely be able to include family and sibling portraits at the beginning of your session. You are the most important people in your baby’s life, let them see how much they mean to you. I would recommend for siblings to be taken out for a walk by one of the parents or collected by a friend/family member after this, so we can focus on the birthday girl/boy.
Mums: Wear a top that you feel comfortable in. The portraits are about you and your relationship with your baby so try and keep the colour of your clothes neutral and preferably light, avoid bright patterns and colours, something with short or ¾ sleeves is perfect. Tip – wear a zip up hoodie to protect from spills on the way and if those special socks need to happen just make them even more special and hide them under a plain pair.
The only thing I don’t provide is outfits. For the first part of simple, natural portraits bring a neutral smart/casual outfit. As for your cake smash outfit – this can be as simple as a nappy cover, or go all out – all depends on the look you’re after, please get in touch and I’ll be happy to advice. Bring a snack, a change of outfit for baby to go home in and a towel to keep them warm and cosy after the bath splash. I will take care of everything else!
I offer three basic packages for cake smash photography sessions, with prices starting at £349. A session fee of £59 is payable at the time of booking and it does not include any images, see more details here. Family photography edinburgh - frequently asked questions

We will discuss and decide on this during your consultation.  We are spoiled with many gorgeous locations for your family photoshoot in Edinburgh. If choosing an outdoor session, it is important to go with a location where you and your family feel comfortable – I will not drag you to the beach if you hate sand! The choice of location will also depend on the time of year and likely weather.
Family photography sessions normally last anywhere between 1-2 hours. This will allow plenty of time for me to get to know and befriend your kiddies and create a variety of beautiful, emotive portraits for you.
Absolutely! They are an important part of your family and deserve to be photographed. I will always try and create an individual portrait of your pet as well as including them in the group photographs.
Both! With every outdoor and at home family session I aim to create a variety of portraits. Posed family ones that will stand the test of time and will make a beautiful statement wall art piece, as well as candid, emotive portraits that will capture your true relationships and tell your family story – perfect for albums. Studio sessions will be more posed but will also include tickles and laughter!
Erm we live in Scotland so unfortunately this is quite likely! In the lead up to your session date I will keep a close eye on the weather forecast. If it looks like it will be pouring all day, we will likely reschedule. If it’s light rain we might embrace it and go for it, although it might be a good idea to consider a change of wardrobe. We will look for sheltered spots in your chosen location and the kids can run around and jump in puddles for those adorable action shots! Overcast is great though as it provides beautiful diffused light which looks lovely in your portraits.
We will discuss your wardrobe options during your consultation. This will depend on the time of year  and what you feel comfortable in.  Choose outfits that you feel comfortable in and coordinate them in colour. Avoid anything with cartoons/logos and super bright patterns, we want the focus of your portraits to be on you.
We will reschedule in case of an illness. It is important that everyone looks and feels their best on the day so there is absolutely no problem with this. Please keep me informed as soon as you can if you notice the first signs of them being unwell.
Oh yes I’ve heard this a lot! Kids are naturally active and inquisitive and it is completely normal for them to not want to listen or do what we ask them to. This is absolutely not a problem and I will run around with your kiddies, play with them and use my bag of tricks that will help me capture their natural emotions. As a mum of two boys I am used to dealing with tantrums too so if your child decides that our photoshoot is a perfect time for one, it is totally ok. There is absolutely no rush for anything.
Oh yes, the kid that will not let go of your leg no matter what you do? That is totally fine! During your session we will have plenty of time. I will not pressure your child into doing anything they are uncomfortable with, but I will join them in their little world and empathise with their feelings. I will take my time to get to know them and make friends with them. If that doesn’t work I will give you some instructions and just step further away for some time  and allow you to spend some time as a family and just snuggle, play and have fun, while I sneakily capture real emotions and the most genuine moments.
Absolutely! Multi generational portraits are so special and I would love to capture the special relationships that you all share.
A snack, a drink and your good mood!
